We’ve successfully created a model that has provided a consistent, in-person preschool experience for our families this year (2020-2021). We are excited to continue this model and operate safely next year in order to give families a reliable in-person preschool experience during the Pandemic. We’ve been able to protect the heart of preschool – ensuring our children have a place to learn social and emotional skills that will prepare them for life.

Durham Community Preschool, a secular non-profit, offers play-based, part time child-care that welcomes families of every race, ethnicity, religion, family structure and background. Our vision is to nurture the potential of each child through innovative strategies that foster social-emotional development and creative exploration. We are unwavering in our commitment to providing families with a high quality educational experience within our inclusive, socially responsible community.

*Due to the Pandemic, DCP is taking preschool outside! We’ll be creating pods with 2 teachers for two in-person 3 hour outdoor morning sessions.

Class Information

DCP will be offering 3 hour in-person outdoor play opportunities for preschool aged children. We’ll be placing children in groups (a pod) with 2 teachers.  All children attend Monday through Friday and pay the same tuition amount. To keep exposure low, siblings will be paired together.  The pods will be multi-age and offer educational exploratory opportunities for all age levels.

Pod #1 will meet from 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Pod #2 will meet from 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Application Process

Priority enrollment will be given to currently enrolled DCP students, siblings and alumni.

Public applications can be submitted any time after January 1st with the non-refundable $65 application fee. Public applications will be officially processed the week of February 1st after all the currently enrolled DCP students, siblings and alumni applications have been processed. We will then match up any open spots with public applications we have received. This year, we will be giving preference to any siblings in order to keep exposure low for our staff and preschool community.

Application: $65 one-time, nonrefundable fee due upon application

*If parents are re-enrolling a child for a consecutive academic year at DCP, then the application fee is only $30. Please use this online form for re-enrollment.
*These fees are for the academic year only and may not apply to separate summer programs or sessions.

A tuition deposit (one month) and the $60 supply fee are due within 14 days of their child’s acceptance to DCP. If a child is admitted after the start of the academic year, this payment will be due on the day the child starts school. These payments are nonrefundable. If a child is admitted, but the tuition deposit and supply fees are not paid by the due date, the child’s name will be removed from the pool of admittances. For example, if a child is admitted on March 15th and the tuition deposit and supply fee are not paid by March 29th, the child’s name will be removed from the class lists and their spot will be offered to the next family on the wait list.

Monthly tuition is due by the tenth day of each month (September – April).  Durham Community Preschool calculates the yearly amount for a child to attend the preschool and breaks that amount into nine monthly payments. Families are emailed monthly invoices with a link to a free bank transfer page to pay tuition online.

Additional Forms

Upon notice of acceptance, a child’s family will receive additional forms (e.g., health form, internet permission form) to be completed by the child’s parents and physicians and returned to the director within two weeks of the child’s first day of school. We do require all children to be in compliance with the North Carolina Immunization schedule.

  • Date Format: MM slash DD slash YYYY
I give my permission for the child care personnel at Durham Community Preschool to secure medical assistance for my child while he/she is attending this program. I understand that efforts will be made to contact me in an emergency, but if I am unavailable, decisions about securing medical assistance will be made by the childcare staff in my absence.

Because the preschool is operating during a Pandemic, we will do our utmost to a) only send our child when they and our family members are healthy b) notify the preschool in the event that we've been exposed and c) go through screenings before attending preschool. I understand that care will be given toward the safety and well-being of my child, but in the event of an unavoidable accident, I will hold neither the volunteers nor employees of Durham Community Preschool, nor Glendale Heights United Methodist Church, responsible.

  • Price: $65.00
